No frights, just fairtrade
Halloween is creeping into the cheekymono shop and I’ve got plenty of colourful, characterful and slightly spooky things to browse online.
From art prints and Mexican folk-art-inspired pieces to colourful gifts and decorations, there’s lots for anyone looking to celebrate Halloween and Día de los Muertos with something a little less ordinary and little more curious.
Think colour, creativity, tradition and things you’ll actually want to keep!
And if you fancy browsing in person...
Come and join me at Sandgate Deli for a relaxed Saturday of shopping, food and drinks. I’ll have my cheekymono collection with me, including Halloween and Día de los Muertos goodies, art prints, gifts and colourful finds. There’ll be delicious deli food, drinks and a special Pisco cocktail too as well as crafts for the littles. Come for a browse, stay for a drink.
If toddlers wrote reviews...
Thank you to everyone who has come along to a class or sent their little one to the after-school club. We’ve had so much fun (and, of course, a little chaos too!).
Obviously I don't expect the kids to share how they find class or write me a review, but, just for fun, I thought I’d share a snapshot of some of the things I’ve been hearing from our yogis and their grown-ups over the term;
“Is it yoga today?.... Yesssss” — overheard at the school gates from one very excited little yogi.
“She’s really enjoying the classes.” — a lovely parent update that made me smile.
“I like that.” — a simple but very important review of the relaxation from one little yogi.
“Nam-eee-skee!” — an adorable toddler mispronunciation that absolutely made my heart burst.

It genuinely makes me so happy hearing what the children think about yoga.
They don’t worry about whether they’re doing the pose perfectly or whether their exhale s longer than their inhale. They just get stuck in, have a go, move their bodies and have fun. And that’s exactly what I want cheekymono yoga to be about. So if you’ve been wondering whether your little one might enjoy a class, come and join us this winter term, I promise it’ll be fun.
And finally, some dates for the diary...
I’m already planning the cheekymono Christmas Party for Saturday 12 December at St. Paul's Church Hall. Full details are still being worked out, but expect a colourful day of family yoga, kids’ yoga, Christmas crafts, food, drinks, kids disco, Christmas shopping and plenty of festive fun. There’ll be a mixture of free and paid-for activities, including free yoga tasters and crafts, plus some lovely local businesses joining in. More details coming soon
And before that I am collaborating with the wonderful Giles Mountain on Thursday 19th November for a special afternoon of family yoga and sound. I’ll be leading a accessible family yoga session before handing over to sound practitioner Giles Mountain for a relaxing sound bath. And the best bit? It’s all in support of the Sandgate Primary School PTA, helping raise funds for sports equipment and rainy-day play resources for our local school.
Thursday 19 November 4 – 6pm St. Paul’s Church Hall, Sandgate
Family tickets start from £10, with tickets for up to four people available for £15. Come along, slow down and try something a little different together.
Last, but by no means least...
Thank you. Because of everyone who has supported cheekymono by coming to classes and events this past two months, I’ve been able to raise enough profit to fund a week’s worth of care for two more children at the refuge run by Project Peru.
That’s an especially positive step for me, and it’s all thanks to you. If you’d like to find out more about the work I support, why it matters to me and how giving back is at the heart of cheekymono, you can read more here.
Thank you for being part of it.
Sara x
