Exciting news, colour-lovers and creative souls — cheekymono now has a new home inside the brand-new Petticote Lane Emporium in Folkestone, Kent’s largest indoor market for independent traders and creative businesses.
If you’re looking for handmade gifts in Folkestone, independent shops near the Kent coast, or a splash of joy on your next visit, this vibrant new shopping destination is for you!

Find cheekymono at Folkestone’s new creative hub
Petticote Lane Emporium is full of local makers, artists, and vintage treasures — and now includes a little corner bursting with cheekymono colour. It’s a big step for me to have a physical space to showcase my prints, products, posters and joyful designs — and I wanted to make it count.
I took my time planning the stall because I knew I wanted it to spark joy in everyone who walked past — so bright colours were definitely the order of the day. Dopamine visual merchandising, all the way! 🎨 But it wasn’t just about being bold — I also wanted to stay true to some of cheekymono’s core values, especially around sustainability. Everything in my little store has been recycled, upcycled, or creatively reused.
The main shelf was saved from the tip — thank you to the kind man who let me rescue it instead of sending it to landfill. I gave it a full glow-up with leftover Electric Blue paint from YesColours — my absolute favourite zingy shade that channels the boldness of Frida Kahlo, one of my all-time Latina heroes.
I also used paint left over from my kids' bedrooms (Hot Pink and Miami Turquoise) to decorate other parts of the display, and I even found some rainbow foil curtains hiding in the loft from my daughter’s third birthday to add some sparkle.
But the thing I’m most proud of? Upcycling my son Solomon’s old cot, which was gathering dust in the garage with one broken side and no longer safe for use. So, a little imagination, and the two end pieces became a poster rack, with the unbroken side becoming a display stand for my mantras and crate displays.
There’s something really meaningful about using what you already have — it’s not only kind to the planet, it gives a real sense of joy and accomplishment too.

Come and see Petticote Lane Emporium Folkestone for yourself
Almost everything from the cheekymono range is available to browse and buy at the stall, with some extra jewellery still online only at cheekymono.co.uk.
So whether you’re local, exploring Folkestone’s Creative Quarter, or planning a visit to Petticote Lane Emporium from further afield, I’d love you to come and take a look. The emporium has taken the space of the old Wilkos and it's great to see some life coming back to the highstreet here in Folkestone. It’s a joy to be part of a space that’s buzzing with creativity, kindness and community. Big thanks to Ruth, Toby, Carl and all the team for their support in helping me get setup. Also shout out to Rachel and Beth at Penny Lane cafe which is situated inside the emporium and has been keeping me caffeinated as I werk werk werk!

Every visit to the emporium, like on Facebook, follow on Instagram, tagged post, and purchase really does mean the world to me — and helps me grow cheekymono, give back through my charity work, and keep creating colourful things that make people smile.
Thank you for all the love so far — and see you soon in Folkestone! 💛
With love,
Sara @ cheekymono
