A morning of movement and connection: Curious Club at the Lower Leas Coastal Park

There’s something magical about slowing down and seeing familiar places through little eyes. Our latest Curious Club adventure took us to Lower Leas Coastal Park for a morning of gentle movement, nature, curiosity and creativity.

Nature meets creativity... simple stones transformed into colourful little works of art, made by tiny hands and big imaginations.

We started by arriving together, taking a moment to settle, breathe and stretch before heading off on our adventure. Our walk wasn’t about getting somewhere quickly, it was about noticing what was around us.

We wandered through wildflower meadows, listened to the sounds of the sea, discovered echoes hidden around the park, collected pine cones and took time to stop and simply be.

One of my favourite parts of the morning was our sea breath practice. We used a simple movement with our hands; breathing in as we lifted our arms like a wave rising from the sea, then breathing out slowly as our hands flowed back down with an audible “whoosh”. It’s such a simple tool, but it’s a lovely way to help little ones (and grown-ups!) slow down, regulate their energy and connect with their breath. Even more wonderful when practiced by the sea!

After exploring part of the park, we made our way down to the beach where we collected stones ready for our creative activity. Our craft this week was rock pictures, using our found stones and acrylic markers to create little works of art.

Solomon spotted this rock nestled into the bark of a tree with the words 'yr loved' written on it - so curious!

It was a wonderfully simple activity that worked for all ages, from tiny hands making their first creations to parents and carers adding more detail and imagination. Sometimes the simplest activities create the best moments.

Of course, no Curious Club adventure is complete without a little snack break! This week’s snack was apple-flavoured rice cakes, sultanas and Clementines, the perfect fuel for a morning of fresh air, movement and exploring... A little bit of Vitamin Sea, a little bit of yoga, a little bit of nature magic. 🌊
